Celebrating 26 years of knowledge sharing in Europe

Bringing together thousands of senior professionals from across Europe for the past 26 years, the European Social Services Conference (ESSC) has long been pioneering the value of knowledge sharing to transform people’s lives. Over the years, thousands of senior professionals have come together at the conference to share new ideas and improve services. For this annual event, the ESSC is organised in cooperation with The Regional Government of Andalusia.

Invest - Innovate - Transform: Empowering people and communities

Building on the key messages from the 2017 conference, the 26th European Social Services Conference (ESSC) will explore how we can improve services by empowering the people and communities which are at the heart of social welfare.

Last year’s conference showcased a growing appetite to introduce new innovations and welfare technology in service planning and delivery. It showed how the empowerment of service users and innovative approaches such as co-production are transforming the way services are provided across Europe. It also demonstrated how public services across Europe are active in incorporating and developing new technology to respond to increasing needs.

Feel free to register here and don't miss out on this opportunity to attend this prestigious event.

Help donate to give services users the chance to attend the European Social Services Conference

At our 25th conference in Malta, the Brighton Table Tennis Club (BTTC) was invited to highlight its innovative social inclusion sport programme, which involves many service users. We welcomed Harry Fairchild, the world’s first ever table-tennis coach with Down’s Syndrome, to share his story in the conference’s Project Forum. Hoang Nguyen, a young refugee from Vietnam, and Tim Holtam, the founder of BTTC, explained in a panel session how the participation of Hoang in the club helped him to integrate in the city with other young people of his age.

In 2018 the conference will be held in Seville, Spain, and we would like more service users to be involved and share their stories and ideas in the same way BTTC did in Malta in 2017.

We are asking each and everyone of our members, delegates attending the event, friends and partners to donate a small fee, so we can raise enough money for more service users to attend the conference. It will be a great opportunity for not only the service users to meet the people who plan, manage, and fund social services, but most importantly for professionals to meet, share and gain knowledge and experience from the people they are meant to help. For us to improve services, we must learn from the people that need it the most.
